Annual Conference News!
Two exciting news items from GEDA for this year’s Annual Conference:
Before the two announcements and in an effort to help the learning process with the new website layout and design … one item that EVERYONE needs to be aware of: PLEASE LOG INTO THE GEDA SITE BEFORE REGISTERING FOR ANNUAL CONFERENCE. The registration rate for members should be $290, not $390, which is the rate for non-members.
FIRST- due to economic circumstances this year, we realize that it is difficult for many people to travel to GEDA’s Annual Conference. We want you to be able to fully enjoy the Conference, as Pat Topping and his committee have done a lot of work to create a GREAT agenda for you. Conference registrations and hotel prices are one thing, but just getting to the Conference can be a huge concern for a lot of us. Therefore, GEDA, in keeping with our GREEN THEME for this year, is organizing a carpooling/vanpooling system. It is VERY simple. Email the GEDA Offices at mpennington@georgia.org and simply state that you are either willing to pick people up on your way down, or that you are looking for a ride. Fewer cars on the road means shared travel costs, increased networking time and it will be easier for everyone to get their cars out of the valet station on Friday!
Again – email us and let us know when you plan on going, the route you’ll be taking (to make matchmaking easier) and whether or not you’re driving or hitchhiking.
The second piece of Annual Conference news: again, the economic situation is hard on everyone. GEDA is waiving late fees for Annual Conference. Ordinarily, registrations would cost an extra $75 beginning this weekend. However, GEDA understands the current financial situation and is sensitive to that. We put on these programs as a benefit to you, the membership. There is not much benefit if you can’t be there! (We cannot control the hotel situation, however. If the Hyatt can no longer promise the group rate, that is a contractual situation and is out of our control. Get those hotel rooms as soon as you can!)
