Annual Conference Wrap


The 45th GEDA Annual Conference is now officially in the books. Here are some of the highlights in case you missed it:

The new slate of Officers were elected this morning in our Annual Business Meeting. Serving the GEDA Membership from now until September 2009 are President Chris Clark, 1st Vice President Pat Topping, 2nd Vice President Bob White, Secretary-Treasurer Misti Martin and Immediate Past President Todd Greene.

The 12 members of the Board of Directors are: (continuing for the second year of their terms) Gretchen Corbin, Tim Evans, Hans Gant, Angie Gheesling, Brad Lofton and Charles Stallworth. Beginning new two-year terms are Anna Chafin, Bruce Drennan, Mike Grundmann, JoAnne Lewis, Bob Simmons and Nathan Sparks.

GEDA also hosted the Annual President’s Awards Banquet Wednesday night. GEDA’s Professional Development Committee unveiled the new Deal of the Year Awards. The first ever winners of the Awards are: Rural CategoryIDI Industrial Park Transaction from the Development Authority of Monroe County; Regional Category – Daehan Solution from The Valley Partnership; and Metro Category – Kumho Tire from the Macon Economic Development Commission.

GEDA also awarded awards for individual contributions and service to economic development. The Volunteer of the Year Award was given to Steve Holcomb of the Development Authority of Cherokee County. Nancy Nolan was awarded Honorary Lifetime Membership status. Senator Jeff Mullis received the Governor Zell Miller Public Policy Leadership Award. And Peggy Chapman was honored with the Rip Wiley Award for Professional Excellence.
