2009 Legislative Reception. Save the Date!
It’s November. That means several things: many of us will soon be eating too much turkey; if you’re like me – you’re behind in buying those holiday presents for friends and family; and the 2009 Georgia General Assembly session will begin before we know it. As we all know, beginning to speak with Legislators in January about what we are interested in is too late. Your GEDA Board of Directors will vote on Monday, November 17 on our Legislative Agenda for 2009. We will get that message out to you as soon as the vote is finalized. It is VITAL to immediately begin educating all state and local politicians of the importance of economic development and how our roles have an immediate impact on the state’s economic well-being.
Also, NOW is the time to invite your legislators and your entire local team to the 2009 GEDA Legislative Reception. We will again be at The Georgia Railroad Freight Depot. We are working on continuing our new tradition of turning that entire day into Economic Development Day in Georgia, complete with meetings with the Governor, key state leaders and a presentation to the House and Senate Economic Development Committees. More information will be available on all of that soon. Right now, however, start encouraging your local delegations and your legislators to save Wednesday, January 28, 2009 on their calendars. We will begin at 5:30 pm. We look forward to a HUGE crowd in Atlanta and a great 2009 General Assembly Session!
