Hans Gant
Hans Gant currently serves the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce as Senior Vice President of Economic Development. In this capacity he oversees marketing the 28-county metro Atlanta region around the world focused attracting companies, jobs, and investment to Atlanta.
Hans led the Chamber’s “Industries of the Mind” marketing campaign which was focused on attracting and growing technology companies and talent as well as branding the region as a national technology center. This program resulted in 85 companies locating to the Atlanta region and creating nearly 10,000 high value jobs from 1999 to 2002.
Current economic development initiatives include the strategies that are focused on attracting and growing corporate headquarters, Biotech, advanced telecommunications, information technology, logistics and computer software development companies. Over the past eight years, the Chamber has been involved in recruiting more than 300 companies to the region including headquarters of companies such as GE Energy, Merial Pharmaceuticals, Newell Rubbermaid, Manhattan Associates, Novelis, Arby’s, Wipro, General Protecht and many others.
Prior to coming to the Metro Atlanta Chamber in February 1999, Hans served as Executive Director of the Hampton Roads, Virginia Economic Development Alliance, a regional economic development partnership made up of six local governments and their business community. There he focused on recruiting new industries and business to the Virginia Beach-Norfolk-Williamsburg metropolitan area.
Before moving to Virginia, he lived in Columbus, Georgia where he held several leadership positions, including Vice President of Economic Development for the Columbus, Georgia Chamber of Commerce; Vice President of Real Estate Development for the Jordan Company and Director of City Planning for the City of Columbus, Georgia.
Hans serves on the Boards of the Georgia Tech Economic Development Institute, Georgia Biomedical Partnership, Technology Association of Georgia, MIT Enterprise Forum of Atlanta, Georgia Economic Development Association (GEDA), and Georgia Foreign Trade Zone, Inc. He is also a member of CoreNet Global, Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Atlanta, International Economic Development Council (IEDC) and Industrial Asset Management Council (IAMC).
