The Archway Partnership connects the University with local communities in Georgia to address high priority community and economic development needs. Archway Partnership faculty, known as Archway Professionals, work closely with community, business, and civic leaders and citizen groups to assist each Archway community with identifying challenges and then designing implementing sustainable solutions to those challenges. Archway Partnership communities have worked on a variety of key issues including economic development, leadership development, health and wellness, downtown development, entrepreneurship, and workforce development, among other issues. Through the Archway Partnership, communities benefit from University of Georgia faculty and students working alongside a broad cross-section of the community on important quality of life issues. Likewise, UGA faculty and students engage in real-world problem-solving when working with Archway Partnership communities.
The director of the Archway Partnership is responsible for overall leadership of the unit, including responsibility for the administrative, budgetary, and programmatic operations of Archway and supervising Archway faculty and staff located in Athens and around the state. The position reports directly to the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach (PSO) and is a member of PSO’s senior leadership team. The position is high-profile as the director represents Archway both within the university community and with external stakeholders with varying interests and backgrounds. The director is based in Athens, but the position requires significant travel within Georgia.
