Job Description & Details: Directs the county's economic development activities. Major duties and activities include, but are not limited to: Promotes and provides guidance to existing and prospective businesses interested in relocation or expansion. Provides assistance for the state and local permitting process and funding. Advocates for economic development in the comprehensive plan, zoning ordinance, and other regulations. Works with the Chamber of Commerce and other groups to identify concerns and promote town and county development. Maintains liaison with local, state, and federal agencies. Prepares reports and provides information to the County Commission and to relevant state agencies. Maintains strong relationships with business, the news media, schools, the general public, and other constituencies. Prepares grant proposals; manages grant funds and maintains required records and reports. Prepares bid packages and proposals for new construction. Assists with negotiations for professional services, contracts, property acquisition, and property sales. Works with local businesses to develop and update marketing plans. Facilitates and hosts quarterly meetings and luncheons. Knowledge required: Economic development and business marketing principles and practices; budget and grant management principles. Required skills: problem analysis/solution development and implementation; developing and maintaining relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders; planning, organizing, coordinating the work of personnel; computer applications; interpersonal and public relations; oral and written communications. Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge and level of competency associated with the completion of bachelor’s degree in related course of study; related experience (3-5 years) sufficient to understand, direct, and coordinate diverse objectives and functions of department; possession of or ability to readily obtain valid GA driver’s license.
