9:00am-9:45am - Light Up Your Community Through Storytelling [encore from GEDA Fall Conference presentation]

Research shows that compared to data alone, our brain’s neurons fire together and light up when hearing a story. With 159 Counties in Georgia, it can be challenging for a decision-maker to remember the unique advantages of each town or city - but a great story and communication strategy can help.

As economic developers, you’re already natural storytellers. We’ll help you tap into that ability and learn to showcase your community’s unique strengths in a whole new way.

Join Georgia Power’s Community & Economic Development Marketing team and learn to unleash your inner storyteller. This interactive session will help your community:

  1. Identify and tell stories within your community
  2. Take great photos using the technology you already have
  3. Share your stories on the appropriate marketing channel

10:00am-10:45am - Tips for LinkedIn: Positioning Your Community and Yourself

LinkedIn is consistently reported to be the top social media platform for organizations and companies across industries. With almost 850 MILLION users, LinkedIn is a massive database of professionals, all available for networking and finding out more about YOU. We’ll cover:

  1. How to build a valuable LinkedIn presence for yourself and your community
  2. Best practices for writing post copy and using great imagery
  3. How to increase engagement with the right audience

11:00am-11:45am - How to Dazzle and Delight: The Prospect Experience

Congratulations! You have beaten out thousands of other sites and now have the opportunity to meet with the prospect. Whether the meeting is virtual or in-person, it’s essential to use this time to demonstrate your ability to support the client and welcome them to your community. In this session, we will discuss:

  1. Getting ready for the visit - preparing partners, people, and places
  2. Marketing collateral that matters
  3. Experiences and gifts to make your community memorable

During the session, we will present examples of how other communities have delighted the prospect team and earned a top spot in project consideration.

11:45am-12:15pm - The Metaverse: What is it, What it Isn't, and Why Anyone Should Care

As soon as Facebook changed its name to Meta it felt like everyone started talking about the Metaverse. But what is the metaverse exactly?
