Annual Conference 2019 Event Winners

GEDA 2019 ANNUAL CONFERENCE GOLF TOURNAMENT

We had 48 golfers participate in the Golf Tournament at The Club at Savannah Harbor during the 2019 GEDA Annual Conference.  Thank you to Stan Crance, Existing Industry Coordinator/Project Manager, Valdosta-Lowndes County Development Authority, who coordinated the tournament.  Thank you also to the two beverage cart sponsors: The Development Authority of Appling County and Catamount Constructors, Inc.  Also, Austin Swanger, Group Golf Sales Manager, and Chris Thompson, Tournament Coordinator, from the golf club assisted us with the event.

The first place team consisted of David Donnelly, Andy Camp, Norman Deese and Keith Ziobron with a net score of 61.

Second place went to the team of Heath Slapikas, Illya Copeland, Wayne Glover and Frank Wartner with a score of 62.

Third place was determined by a 3 team playoff for 3rd place with a score of 63 and included BJ Walker, Frank Newman, Philip Weatherly and Thomas Driver.

The Closest to the Pin awards went to: Grant Cagle - # 3; Heath Slapikas - # 8; Mark Weston - # 15; Cyle Reissig # 17. 

The Longest Drive on hole # 11 was won by David Donnelly and the Jeff Noles had the Straightest Drive on hole # 18.

 

GEDA 2019 ANNUAL CONFERENCE SPORTING CLAYS

There were 23 participants in the Sporting Clays competition at the Dorchester Shooting Preserve on Thursday afternoon, September 19th.  Thank you to David Brazell, Business Development with Pattillo Construction Corp. and Bill Boone, Entrepreneur Outreach Specialist of The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center, for coordinating this great event.  Thank you also to the sponsors: Liberty County Development Authority, Pattillo Construction Corp. and Resource and Land Consultants.

There was a tie for the number of targets hit with Alfie Meek of the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute and Brandon Stooksbury of Central Georgia EMC both achieving a score of 81.  However, Alfie was declared the winner since he hit the most consecutive clays.

 

GEDA 2019 CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT

For the second year in a row, GEDA had a cornhole tournament at the Annual Conference.  Thank you to Meghan Duke, Economic Development Director, West Point Development Authority, and Rachel Barnwell, Manager of Economic Development Programs, Development Authority of Bulloch County, for their coordination of this fun event.  There were 11 teams participating this year.  Thanks as well to all those who brought cornhole boards for this event.  Again, this year, the winners were brothers Shawn Dodson of Georgia EMC and Kevin Dodson with the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD).
