Be Pro Be Proud

Posted By: Misti Martin GEDA News,

Be Pro Be Proud is a new initiative, launched by the Cherokee Office of Economic Development (COED), that will change how Georgians think about the skilled professions. Together, we can inspire today’s youth and lead them, and our state, down the path to prosperity.  Misti Martin, President of COED would like to share this program with other communities and scale this program statewide.  Here is a link to the website – www.BeProBeOroudGA.org and to a short PowerPoint, Be Pro 100 Presentation.   Following are some comments from Misti Martin of the Cherokee Office of Economic Development:

As local EDOs, we are constantly trying to solve the workforce development challenges.  Now, with COVID, it’s even more challenging.  But, the essential skilled professions are carrying us through the pandemic and it is a perfect time for us as economic developers to support our companies and inform students of career opportunities.  Plus, because of the state’s foresight, most of these professions are covered with the Hope Grant. That’s why our public-private partnership and our county commissioners funded the buy-in to the national Be Pro Be Proud brand, originally launched in Arkansas (and about to be launched in SC). Now we want to share the program and lift it up across the state.

For a 3-year commitment of $5,000/year, members/communities/EDOs would be able to partner with Be Pro Be Proud and get access to the following:

Benefits:

  • Listed Partner on BEPROBEPROUDGA.ORG
  • Placement on BPBP emails
  • Featured community/business on BPBP social platforms
  • Access to Tallo platform for student data/tracking
  • 1 visit to community/business with mobile workforce workshop
