The Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia invites applications and nominations for a public service faculty position to support the state’s efforts to grow its workforce, enhance prosperity, and lead the nation in e-mobility deployment. The Carl Vinson Institute of Government is a Public Service Unit under the leadership of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach. The position will be available September 1, 2023 and carries rank in the public service faculty career ladder of The University of Georgia.

The exponential growth of e-mobility in Georgia presents the state with a multitude of opportunities. Georgia leads the nation with anticipated e-mobility manufacturing jobs, and now the state is building out its infrastructure to meet demand. Communities, large and small, see e-mobility as an important way to promote economic development and improve quality of life. Through its campus-wide E-Mobility Initiative, the University of Georgia is enhancing research, education and outreach opportunities in this high-growth, high-tech commercial sector. The Carl Vinson Institute of Government seeks an E-Mobility Engagement Lead to further UGA’s commitment to contribute to the state’s efforts to grow its workforce, enhance prosperity, and lead the nation in e-mobility deployment.

Housed at the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University ofGeorgia, the candidate will leverage the university’s robust Public Service and Outreach expertise through technical assistance, applied research, convening, facilitation, and training. A specific strength of the Carl VinsonInstitute of Government is its reputation for providing objective, innovative, and useful research as part of UGA’s land and sea grant mission. The position therefore must be able to lead applied research and stakeholder engagement projects both independently and as part of a team. In addition, the applicant will be responsible for producing findings and work product designed to inform decision-making and contribute to supporting state and local efforts to further E-Mobility in Georgia.

This position will work directly with leadership at the Carl Vinson Institute of Government to provide team leadership, develop program resources, and engage with academic and public service expertise. This position will work with government and economic development authorities at the local, state, and federal levels as well as academic, non-governmental organizations, industry and other partners to support e-mobility infrastructure deployment, facilitate statewide initiatives, inform local decision-making, and provide resources for technical assistance related to economic development, workforce development, community and infrastructure planning, policy, and funding support. The position will collaborate with and coordinate faculty and staff to support project activities in the areas of statewide and community engagement, technical assistance, training, and leadership development. The applicant is expected to serve in a leadership role on a
team of professional staff, faculty, and students.
