GEDA 2020 Spring Workshop canceled

Posted By: Kevin Shea

It is with a much regret that we have to inform you that GEDA will be canceling the 2020 Spring Workshop.  The Westin Jekyll Island Hotel has informed us that due to health concerns related to COVID-19 they will not be reopening until June 1st.

Both the Westin Jekyll Island and the Jekyll Island Convention Center have worked with us to make the best of the situation we have found ourselves in, but it comes down to the safety of our participants. They were bending over backwards to accommodate us under difficult circumstances.  We are able to cancel our contracts without penalty.

We want to thank Benjy Thompson, SW20 Conference Chair, along with Dorie Bacon, Rachel Barnwell and others, who worked so hard to plan a great event for us all.  We may be doing some virtual replacement of SW20, but more news will come out on that later.  Thank you to all of our sponsors, especially our Presenting Sponsor, the Georgia Board of Realtors, and to those members who had already registered for the event.  Thanks to all of you who participated in our poll today about SW20.  This was also helpful in our decision to cancel the event.

In the coming days we will be discussing how we will handle refunds of registrations. The Westin Jekyll Island Hotel will cancel your reservation, so there is no action required from you.  If you have reservations with any other hotel, you will need to cancel those yourself.

We look forward to seeing you soon! Stay safe and wash your hands!

Sincerely,

Kevin and Kelly
