Duties and Responsibilities: The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) is the state’s sales and marketing arm, the lead agency for attracting new business investment, encouraging the expansion of existing industry and small businesses, addressing macro level workforce issues, locating new markets for Georgia products, attracting tourists to Georgia, and promoting the state as a destination for arts events and location for film, music and digital entertainment projects, as well as planning and mobilizing state resources for economic development.

GDEcD’s Marketing & Communications Division develops and manages all public relations, marketing and advertising needs for GDEcD; upholds and manages brand standards; and maintains multiple web platforms including Georgia.org and ExploreGeorgia.org. The Account Management team works with internal customers and external stakeholders to facilitate the development of high-quality, effective marketing and communication materials – from project initiation to managing milestones to completion.

This global account manager position works directly with the following GDEcD teams – Foreign Direct Investment, International Trade, and International Relations - Missions and Protocol. The global account manager assists and supports these economic development teams in achieving their sales and marketing goals (domestic and international) through strategically developed interactive and traditional event campaigns.

Under immediate supervision of the director of account management, the successful candidate will facilitate domestic and international marketing strategies to elevate our global profile, support Georgia companies in entering new markets, and attract new business to the state of Georgia:

  • Flawless execution of international missions involving key stakeholders and leaders from Georgia and targeted audiences around the world
  • Provide trade show and experiential support to include pre and post event digital promotions, advertising campaigns, collateral and promotional materials management
  • Work in partnership with global account managers to maintain and evolve content on Georgia.org and Georgia.org/Trade
  • Develop strong relationships with global account managers, GDECD’s interactive marketing manager, marketing services director, social media specialist and research team to ensure synergies between online and offline strategies
  • Open, manage, communicate and track projects in web-based project management tool (Basecamp)
  • Provide solution-oriented multi-channel marketing and best-practice business approaches with the right message to the right audience

MinimumQualifications andCompetencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international business and/or affairs, hospitality, economic development or a closely related field AND 3 years of professional level integrated and international marketing experience OR One year of experience as a Global Account Manager or equivalent position.
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Event management and tradeshow support experience
  • Solid understanding of cultural nuances from an event and international marketing perspective
  • Multi-media/multichannel promotion and vendor management experience
  • Excellent professional-level writing, editing and proofing skills
  • Computer proficient (complete MS Office)
  • Strong sense of design fundamentals and experience working with various CMS, CRM, photo libraries, and web platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years professional level experience working in interactive and international
    marketing, communications, or a closely related field
  • Experience living or working overseas
  • Experience working with small business clients
  • 5+ years of account management experience within a marketing department / agency
  • 3+ years of experience working with a state, county or city economic development/tourism agency
  • Working knowledge of Basecamp, Adobe Suite (Premier Pro, Photoshop, In-Design, and Illustrator), CMS and CRM solutions
  • Language competency in Japanese, German, Chinese, Korean, French, Spanish or Portuguese)
