Georgia EMC works with the Georgia department of Economic Development and our members to provide a variety of project based work relating to site planning and design services including GIS mapping, aerial/drone footage, database list maintenance and research, preparing property marketing materials to bring new businesses to Georgia. Great Growth Opportunities Include:
Learning site analysis evaluations to assist in identifying sites that are suitable for industrial development using GIS Mapping tools and environmental analysis such as wetlands, floodplain, soil type, and topography analysis.
Working with community and EMC leadership in identifying potential environmental constraints of an existing industrial site and provide infrastructure & utility improvement and future land use recommendations in order to increase prospect activity and interest.
Learning how to developing comprehensive marketing materials for industrial sites including site designs & building layouts, conceptual master plans, 3D modeling, illustrative color renderings, aerial drone photography & videography, Storymaps & virtual site tours, and entrance signage design.
Learning to develop prospect-specific building & site searches, building layout & site design maps, community location maps, State & Local infrastructure maps, labor/supplier maps, and demographic analysis & reports using GIS and CAD tools necessary to encourage their business to locate in Georgia.
Learning to review and refine existing mapping and site planning products as well as assist in identifying new and emerging products & technologies, in order to keep us on the cutting edge of technology in providing technical assistance for business recruitment efforts to Georgia.
Building relationships with statewide & local Economic Development professionals, which include Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), Georgia Economic Developers Association (GEDA), Department of Community Affairs (DCA), professional associations in related fields, universities, consultants and other economic development agencies.
Work under a licensed Landscape Architect to earn qualifications to sit for the LARE exam and become a registered landscape architect.
Preferred Education, Software, and Experience:
This is an entry-level position. 0-2 years of experience, a plus, but not required.
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in landscape architecture, geography/geographic information sciences, community development, planning, civil engineering, a plus
Drone License or willingness to become licensed, a plus
Experience working in Economic Development, a plus
Experience in ESRI ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup, Lumion, or Drone Software, a plus
