Job Description & Details:
The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is the regional planning and intergovernmental coordination agency that focuses on issues critical to the region’s success, including growth and development, transportation, water resources, services for older adults and workforce solutions. ARC is dedicated to unifying the region’s collective resources to prepare the metropolitan area for a prosperous future. This is done through professional planning initiatives, the provision of objective information and the involvement of the community in collaborative partnerships.
The Community Development Group works closely with local governments across the 10-county region to help address a range of land use, development, and transportation challenges. Topics include comprehensive planning, multi-jurisdictional planning, creative placemaking, housing, historic preservation, and food systems planning, to name a few.
The Planner (Research Analyst) will produce data and written analyses on a variety of land use, housing, and economic development topics, as well as assist in the development of recommendations for state, regional, local leaders and decision makers. With a mix of technical and research skills, this position will support implementation of regional policies adopted in the Atlanta Region’s Plan and the development and implementation of the Regional Economic Development Strategy (CATLYST). Immediate initiatives include: completing research on solutions to address housing challenges; performing data and policy research on local and regional economic development; and leading a series of analyses to support the sustained growth of disinvested areas in the region. This individual is expected to play a support role on an as-needed basis in other activities carried out through the Community Development Group including the Livable Centers Initiative (LCI), Community Development Assistance Program (CDAP), local and regional comprehensive plans, and Community Planning Academy (CPA) training program.
