Job Description & Details: 
The President and CEO of the Stephens County Development Authority serves as the lead professional to prepare and market Stephens County for economic development projects, both commercial and industrial, considering a potential location to create new jobs and increase the tax base of a community. In addition to new growth, the executive is responsible for maintaining relationships with existing companies in order to keep current investments in the area. These duties include coordinating all economic development initiatives and strategies, prospect visits, existing industry and business expansions, product management, and continuously updating target market plans to attract specific sector related businesses. Other responsibilities include working with chamber of commerce, education institutions, governments and business leaders on local, state and federal levels to enhance the economic development environment of the community and developing, organizing and delivering quarterly financial and project status reports to local governments.
Candidates should have three years of executive management leadership experience in the business, economic development and/or community development field, chamber of commerce, association, or a combination of these.
Other key skill sets beneficial to candidates include a proven track record of successfully working with a board of directors, governments and community stakeholders.
About the SCDA. Composed of five members, the Development Authority was established in 1965 with the goal of achieving continued, sustainable economic growth for the area. The mission of the economic development organization is “to encourage and support the expansion and development of industrial and commercial facilities in Stephens County, Georgia so as to promote employment.” The Development Authority is funded by the City of Toccoa and Stephens County Board of Commissioners.
