The Position. The Vice President of Economic Development is responsible for leading a focused effort to increase the local tax base and grow new, high-quality jobs in Carroll County. This includes the expansion and retention of existing businesses. The professional leader is accountable for both commercial and industrial recruitment. Other responsibilities include: property data base maintenance; project lead development; site visits; providing leadership and guidance to development authorities; oversight of all daily operations and budgets; and, in collaboration with the community, developing and implementing an economic development strategic plan. The Vice President represents Carroll Tomorrow at meetings with clients, investors, developers, community leaders, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications. Candidates applying for the economic development position should hold a Bachelor’s degree, ideally with an MBA or other post-graduate work, from an accredited college, in the field(s) of economic development, business, real estate, marketing, or a related field; or equivalent experience. Applicants should have a minimum of three years of management, executive and/or strategic leadership experience in a field that is related to economic and/or community development.
Key Responsibilities. The Vice President of Economic Development will work closely with the President of Carroll Tomorrow, existing industry leaders, elected and appointed local and state government officials, and other community partners to build an economic development program that is sustainable and competitive.
Key responsibilities will include providing administrative and collaborative support for development authorities in the community. Developing relationships with site consultants, real estate brokers, property owners, utility partners, and public/private agencies designed to improve the quality of life of Georgian is also an important component of the position.
The Vice President will be accountable for responding to RFIs and RFPs on an accurate and timely basis. At that same time, the professional will be expected to build a creative target marketing action plan that raises the profile of Carroll County.
In terms of fiscal management, the Vice President will be responsible for fiscal management of Carroll Tomorrow as approved by the President and Board.
