August 2020 Chair's Column
Hi GEDA Friends,
I pray you are doing well this summer. As you’re reading this column, you are all well aware that we have decided to move the Annual Conference to a virtual experience. Sean McMillan and his committee are working hard to deliver a program and content that is meaningful and impactful for you as our members. This decision did not come easy nor was it done with any sense of joy. We all want to be together, network, laugh and grow as professionals.
We will have our August meeting in Augusta on Monday and I’m grateful for all the hard work Andrea Schruijer and her committee have put into this luncheon. We’ll be sure to hold to all of the social distancing and safety measures during the event.
For the remainder of 2020, we’ll continue working hard on your behalf. We’re active in reorganizing the annual conference, monthly luncheons and celebrating all the great things happening in our state at our awards event.
One of my earlier topics included working on yourself and boosting your skill sets. Our development authority team went through a month-long writing cohort. Some of my team were extremely nervous about having a professional look at their writing style and be critiqued. It was my idea and I was even scared. The course turned out to be one of the best things we have ever done as a team, it was fun, engaging, and truly beneficial. We began utilizing the content immediately and now have an increased level of confidence in our written communication.
So, what have you been working on? I’d love to hear it! Let’s share in the GEDA Slack Channel!
Hope to see you on Monday!
