March 2024 Chair's Column
What’s up?
March is upon us, and it’s one of my favorite months for many reasons. Savannah hosts one of the largest St. Patrick’s Day parades in the country, we welcome our Irish friends for their annual visit, the weather begins to warm up a bit and everyone in the lowcountry can feel summer starting to creep in. It’s not too hot yet and no longer our version of cold anymore, so if you ask me, it’s the perfect time of year to be outside.
The first day of spring this year falls on March 19. Our office started doing a walking challenge last year called “Spring into Action” that motivates our team to get out and get their steps in. Whoever has the highest amount of steps by June 20, the last day of spring, wins a prize. It’s a good initiative and usually results in more staff members walking to their appointments or scheduling a walking meeting rather than an in-office one.
The momentum of spring begins in March and if we’re not careful, it will go by in a flash and we’ll reflect back in June and wonder how one of the best times of year flew right past us. My call to action this month would be to slow down. I know it’s not possible for most of us to eliminate our busy calendars, but I’m reminded that we can find ways to spend our days differently during this time of year.
It could be just as simple as rolling the window down on our way to a site visit or moving a prospect lunch to the outdoor seating section at a local restaurant. We all have our own slice of Georgia that we have the privilege of marketing, and each county has a difference landscape to boast. Let’s use this season to show off what truly makes Georgia beautiful.
