Position Overview

The Marketing & Communications Coordinator supports the planning and execution of marketing and communications initiatives that promote the mission, programs, and visibility of the Airport West Community Improvement District (AWCID).

Working closely with the Program Director, this role assists with daily marketing operations including digital communications, event promotion, content development, and stakeholder outreach.

This position plays a key role in communicating the impact of district initiatives and ensuring consistent messaging that highlights AWCID’s investments in economic development, infrastructure improvements, and community engagement.

The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator with strong writing skills, experience managing digital platforms, and an interest in community engagement and public-sector initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing & Communications

  • Assist in developing and implementing annual marketing and communications plans

  • Manage multi-channel communications including website, social media, newsletters, and public announcements

  • Create content highlighting CID projects, economic development initiatives, and community impact

  • Monitor engagement metrics and provide reports to improve outreach efforts

Digital & Content Management

  • Manage and maintain the CID website and social media platforms

  • Create and distribute newsletters, blog posts, press releases, and project updates

  • Maintain a structured content calendar aligned with CID programs, board meetings, and events

  • Manage a centralized library of marketing assets including logos, templates, and photography

  • Provide basic photo and video editing for digital and social media content

  • Assist with event promotion and on-site setup when needed

Community Engagement & Public Outreach

  • Coordinate CID-hosted events, meetings, and community engagement activities

  • Represent AWCIDs at stakeholder meetings and community events

  • Maintain strong relationships with businesses, government partners, media outlets, and community organizations

  • Assist leadership with presentations and communication materials for board meetings and briefings

Marketing Operations & Administrative Support

  • Track digital engagement metrics and provide monthly reports

  • Coordinate with vendors, designers, and consultants on marketing initiatives

  • Support internal communications and program reporting

  • Assist with special marketing and communications projects as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field

  • 2–4 years of professional experience in marketing, communications, public affairs, or community engagement

  • Experience working with government agencies, nonprofits, economic development organizations, or community initiatives is strongly preferred


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities

  • Experience managing digital communications including websites, social media, and email marketing

  • Ability to translate complex initiatives into clear and engaging messaging

  • Strong organizational and project management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently

  • Experience using tools such as:

    • WordPress

    • Mailchimp

    • Canva

    • Adobe Creative Suite

    • Social media analytics platforms

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with diverse stakeholders


Working Conditions

  • Hybrid work schedule with regular in-office requirements

  • Occasional evening or weekend hours for community events

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
