GEDA 2021 Annual Conference

The GEDA 2021 Annual Conference (AC21) was a big success.  Our speakers, from Nik Wallenda to Bob Ganzak to our own members, informed, educated and delighted us.  Dorie Bacon, Executive Director, Screven County Development Authority, and GEDA AC21 Chair, and her committee, with the theme, Cirque Du GEDA – Balancing Act, provided welcome-networking, quality professional development, and great fun!  Thank you to the Georgia Realtors, Presenting Sponsor, and to all of our sponsors for making this event possible.  Click to see the winners of Sporting Clays, the Golf Tournament, and photos from the Conference.

It's Good to Be Back

I don’t know about you, but the GEDA 2021 Annual Conference (AC21) was a long-anticipated and very welcome chance to get together… IN-PERSON!  Wasn’t it great?  Thank you to all of you that attended, both in-person and virtually in Savannah last month.  It was a breath of fresh air to be able to listen, learn and laugh at our meetings, receptions and dinners.  Definitely, it is good to be back!

Thank you, Dorie Bacon, GEDA Annual Conference Chair, and all of your committee members (Rachel Barnwell, J.R. Charles, Meghan Duke, Jason Dunn, Mill Graves, Serra Hall, Jessica Hood, Missy Kendrick, Chris Pumphrey and Andrea Taylor) for putting together the “Greatest Show on Earth!”  Your theme of Cirque du GEDA – Balancing Act provided a fun experience for our members and your programming struck a balance of essential information and new challenges for us to go back home and continue to improve our efforts to drive Georgia’s prosperity.  Thanks also to Georgia Realtors, our Presenting Sponsor, and all of our sponsors for helping to make our AC21 a super meeting!

Submit Potential Projects (CONFIDENTIALLY) for NMTC Funding

The Georgia Economic Developers Association (GEDA) is asking for your help to bring additional New Market Tax Credits (NMTCs) to Georgia as part of $5 billion in NMTC funding the U.S. Treasury is expected to award in 2022.   The application for this funding is now underway and will be due soon, and we need your help in identifying pipeline projects you are working on that can be submitted confidentially as part of this application process.  The goal is to prove to Treasury that Georgia has the demand for NMTCs.   NMTCs are one of the biggest game changers on the most impactful economic development projects because they often provide millions of dollars in forgivable loans to a project as an incentive to locate in Low Income Distressed Areas.  Here is a PowerPoint presentation of all the NMTCs that have been awarded in Georgia based on the last available public data.

If you think that you have an eligible project, please submit your completed pipeline project lead-form ASAP to Randy Griffin, President and CEO, CSRA Business Lending and Georgia Community Reinvestment Fund.  Read on for additional background information.
